1. COLLIN’S

Source: COLLIN’S

COLLIN’S has come a long way since its humble beginnings as a coffee shop stall. The award-winning Singapore restaurant has since expanded to 13 outlets across Singapore, cooking up affordable Western food fare. Their team of chefs have also trained in Italy and Spain.

Begin to fill your stomach with their Forest Mushroom Soup, topped with garlic croutons. Move onto mains with their Signature Mixed Grill that is sure to satisfy every meat lover out there - Grilled

Chicken Chop, Pork Chop and Summer Kabana Pork Sausage. Their sides include Seasonal Vegetables, Potato Au Gratin, pesto cream and black pepper sauces. When I ordered it, everything was great but I was not a fan of the Potato Au Gratin, which was too bland and dense for my liking.

3. Gelatissimo

Source: Gelatissimo

Three scoops of gelato wrapped in a crispy waffle cone is the perfect antidote to combat Singapore’s sweltering heat. What’s not to love? Gelatissimo makes their gelato fresh daily, using the finest quality ingredients, with no artificial colours or flavours.

Take your pick from their array of flavours, which includes vegan, dairy and gluten free options. My personal recommendation would be Salted Macadamia dulce de leche, Wicked Double Chocolate Brownie and Taro. The crunchiness of the macadamia and sweetness of the chocolate go well together and the taro just adds on extra ‘oomph’ of flavour.

Go for their hand-stretched thin crust pizza, such as Pizza Marinara and Pizza di Granchio. The former is a seafood pizza baked in homemade marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese while the latter has a spicy crabmeat pink sauce with a dash of VSOP Brandy. If you love Aglio Olio, you can’t miss out on Spaghetti Gamberi Aglio e Olio, which comes with freshly torched tiger prawns. Every set also comes with soup of the day and a drink.

8. Menbaka Kyoto Fire Ramen

Source: Menbaka Kyoto Fire Ramen

Located at Cathay Cineleisure, Menbaka Kyoto Fire Ramen is the world's first fire ramen. The chefs ignite the oil to create powerful, dramatic flames, and pour it over their signature broth covered with green onions. The owner wanted customers to taste the aroma of green onion, as Kyoto people love green onions, so he came up with the idea of flaming the onions.

You can literally feel the heat from the fire and enjoy a theatrical dining experience like never before. The hint of charred taste gives the broth an ‘umami’ flavour and the chasu melts in your mouth. The Tonkotsu Ramen is their Singapore exclusive, so be sure to try it out!
